West Virginia University Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources Mining and Industrial Extension Extension Agent/Emergency Response Instructor The West Virginia University Mining and Industrial Extension department is seeking an Extension Agent/Emergency Response Instructor, non-tenure track, benefits eligible, soft funded position in the Benjamin M. StatlerCollege of Engineering and Mineral Resources, with an expected starting date of March 1, 2013. Position will be located in Core, West Virginia. The selected candidate will instruct classes throughout West Virginia and nationwide in First Responder Fire, SCSR/smoke expectation training and assist/teach Advanced Fire Brigade and Mine Rescue classes for underground and surface coal mines. Extensive knowledge of emergency preparedness for underground and surface coal mines is required. Experience in mine emergency preparedness and fire fighting training is required. Excellent communication skills, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and time management skills are highly desirable. Candidate must have the following minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of underground coal mining experience; or, Associate's degree and five (5) years of underground coal mining experience. Additionally, the candidate must have three (3) years experience in coal mine emergency preparedness training. The successful candidate must be literate in computer usage and possess a valid driver's license as substantial travel is required.
